A Midsummer Night's Dream was one of a series of paintings based on Shakespeare's plays intended as covers for The American Weekly. Pogány personally gave the painting to the frandmother of the current owner. The artists widow and son donated the other pictures in this suite to an institution. Provenance: The artist's widow.
