Lepape was enamored with the theater and he created this poster as a tribute to the great actress, Spinelly, while she was appearing at the Comedie des Champs-Elysees. Lepape was an important graphic designer who illustrated his work in Art and Decoration, Gazette Du Bon Ton and the famous "Les choses de Paul Poiret", in 1911 which was a lavishly decorated catalogue that Poiret sent to his wealthy clients.
